Gregg International School K3 Class
Course Descriptions
Mathematics - Children learn about math through daily activities such as measuring, sorting, and comparing. The concepts of size, shape, and quantity are taught in a fun and practical way to engender in each child a positive attitude toward numbers and their many uses.
Reading - Cultivating a passion for the written word in children at an early age prepares them for the challenges and fulfillment that reading gives us. Teachers use interactive techniques in conjunction with a wide variety of children's literature to help each child realize the benefits and pleasure of reading. Classroom activities focus on comprehension of and self-expression through narratives that the children can easily relate to.
Writing/Drawing - Children develop their capacity for symbolic expression through drawing, scribbling, and painting. Activities using pencil, crayon, and paint (water-soluble, of course!) help to elucidate the connection between ideas and their symbolic expressions. Children are encouraged to explore their creative urges through both verbal and graphical means.
Science - Participation in simple experiments and activities requiring careful observation introduce children to scientific reasoning. Questions about phenomena and the discussions related to them will help your child become not only accustomed to, but also comfortable with, the wonders of science.
Social Studies - Children this age are learning that human relationships are indispensable for our lives. Family, school, and friends make up the significant social groups to which children belong. With this observation as a starting point, children learn to communicate sensitively about the similarities and differences among them, as well as how to solve problems related to their everyday lives through cooperation with others.
