``Safety first is safety always`` - Charles M. Hayes
This week K3 had their Safety Week and a large part of this unit included the topic of Fire Safety. We were joined but our local fire department where we got to see up close how firefighters deal with fire and what we can do in case of an emergency. Students got to try on real equipment as well!
Afterwards we all go to check out the firetruck in person too. In the mean time, in class we had gone over many of the topics that the firefighters had said. We learned that in case of a fire to call 119. Or, that when a fire happens we need to leave quickly.
We also talked about what is safe and not safe when it comes to evacuating a building. K3 also made their own fire truck and helmets too, so the kids could enjoy pretending to be little firefighter themselves! It was a lot of hands on activities that could allow students to really get a better feeling about how to stay safe. Overall it was an enjoyable week of learning
