GiS: Rewarding Reading!

“I do believe something very magical can happen when you read a good book.” - J.K. Rowling.

Our new reading class in the library has been a very successful addition to school life. Students have been so enthusiastic, and are really enjoying exploring books related to our library monthly themes! It has been fantastic to see how many books students have borrowed from the library to enjoy reading at home. When in the library, students focus and read quietly, getting lost in their chosen stories. Our G1 students have thoroughly enjoyed having weekly read-aloud story-time in the library, too.

The rise of the digital age has reshaped how students read, write, and access information in school. The importance of setting up a reading routine for children in order to counteract the draws of screens at every turn, cannot be underestimated. Studies show that reading for enjoyment can benefit a child’s education, social and cognitive development, wellbeing, and even their mental health. GiS hopes to see our students continue to thrive with reading in the coming months. We would like to request parents to help their children to read and take care of books where necessary. Thank you in advance!
